Nourish Series
Nine live, three-hour taught workshops for practitioners
Nourish Series
Inspired by Mandy’s Nourish Framework, the Nourish Series is an innovative programme of live online learning for therapists, mental health professionals and other health practitioners whose work brings them into contact with eating, body and weight concerns. The series explores a range of perspectives that expand thinking, understanding and therapeutic work with both disordered eating and eating disorders.

The series
Focused learning for real practice
Across nine workshops, the series offers clinically grounded teaching, active reflection and practical consideration of how learning may relate to your own role and practice context. Workshops may be booked individually, as any six workshops through the Nourish Certificate route, or as the complete series.

WORKSHOP 05
Eating and Weight Through the Shame Lens
Friday 9 April 2027 · 10.00 am–1.00 pm
Shame may be both deeply present and incredibly difficult to name and narrate in work involving food, eating, body and weight. This workshop considers shame as a relational experience that can emerge in the room, remain hidden, and be evoked through how a practitioner’s interventions are received. It invites careful attention to pace, sensitivity, and the evocative and emergent—at times almost unspeakable—nature of shame. We will consider the conditions that may make difficult experiences more speakable.

WORKSHOP 06
Script, Hungers, Strokes, Relationships and Eating
Friday 30 April 2027 · 10.00 am–1.00 pm
Drawing on Mandy’s clinical experience and background as a relational psychotherapist, and on Transactional Analysis, this workshop offers a theoretical starting point for thinking about connections between psychological hungers, food, eating and human relationship. It considers how food may become embedded in personal, social, cultural and transgenerational patterns, and how an understanding of strokes and script can add another dimension to clinical reflection.

WORKSHOP 07
Eating, Body and Weight Through an Intersectional Lens
Friday 14 May 2027 · 10.00 am–1.00 pm
This workshop considers eating, body and weight through the experience of a person who may encounter alienation, oppression or prejudice because of their shape and size. It recognises that the body—its shape and size—can become the first thing others see, while also intersecting with other differences and identities. The session offers a starting point for practitioners to reflect on stigma, microaggressions and the complexity of each person’s social location.

WORKSHOP 09
The Nourish Framework: Exploration and Application
Friday 4 June 2027 · 10.00 am–1.00 pm
Building on Mandy Atkinson’s 2023 Transactional Analysis Journal article, Nourish: A Framework for Nourishing Eating-Disordered Clients Using a Structural and Relational Methodology, this experiential workshop introduces Nourish, an integrative relational and structural framework for thinking about disordered eating and eating disorders. The framework places the therapeutic relationship and sensitive attention to shame at its core. Building on shame as a basis for relational healing, participants will explore its concepts through reflection on practice, experiential activities and clinical case material, considering thoughtful application rather than a fixed or linear method.
