SPECIALIST SUPPORT

Developing confidence, knowledge and shared ways of working.

If your organisation supports people affected by disordered eating, eating disorders, or concerns relating to body and weight, your team may need space to expand knowledge, skills, confidence and shared ways of working.

Mandy Atkinson provides specialist, bespoke training and supervision for organisations, including treatment centres, clinics and eating-disorder services. Her approach combines over 25 years’ teaching experience with extensive clinical and supervisory practice in eating, body and weight-related matters.

Training shaped around your team.

We begin with a conversation about your service, your people and the questions you are carrying, before shaping learning that can be useful in practice.

TRAINING SHAPED AROUND YOUR TEAM

Relevant, practical and responsive to your service.

You may have identified a training requirement, but feel unsure how to develop your thinking or what content would be useful. Mandy can consult with you and members of your team to clarify what is needed, then design training that is relevant, practical and responsive to your service.

Training can be delivered online or in person, depending on your team’s needs and location. Previous programmes have been developed in close consultation with senior staff and therapists within teams and delivered as webinars to make them accessible for multidisciplinary teams.

FOR TA TRAINING ORGANISATIONS

Specialist teaching for Transactional Analysis training organisations.

Including Registered Training Establishments (RTE’s) that train Transactional Analyst psychotherapists.

Mandy has designed and delivered eating, body and weight components for psychotherapy curricula, offering advanced trainees an in-depth introduction to this complex specialist area. Eating and weight concerns are frequently present in client presentations, and specialist training can help psychotherapy trainees develop confidence in an area of practice that may stir significant anxiety.

With Mandy’s significant experience as an educator, teaching can be shaped around your existing curriculum and the needs of your trainees, drawing together clinical understanding, reflective learning and practical consideration of how eating, body and weight concerns may arise in psychotherapy.

People taking part in a workshop

“Mandy has taught the eating, shape and weight component of our fourth-year psychotherapy curriculum at Connexus Institute. It is a subject many trainees approach with some anxiety, and Mandy meets them with real warmth. She creates the kind of room where people feel safe enough to bring their own uncertainty, and often their own material, without shame. Alongside that she brings genuine clinical depth and keeps the teaching relationally alive, so students come away from her days noticeably more confident about working with eating, body and weight in their own practice.”

FOR TRAINING ORGANISATIONS

A further client perspective.

“Mandy has provided training for foster parents introducing them to TA concepts with an introductory TA101. She has a flair for putting creativity into her training using a range of interactive materials and videos. Mandy prides herself on making the content relevant and easy to understand. Mandy initiated another creative idea and developed and delivered a TA101 entirely about weight and eating issues. The way that TA theories had been applied to eating issues was fascinating and original. I would highly recommend her work and professionalism.”

SUPERVISION FOR ORGANISATIONS

Two colleagues in a learning-space conversation

Specialist space for thinking together.

Alongside training, Mandy can work with your organisation to develop a programme of specialist supervision, either individually or in groups, for team members. Through consultation, you can consider what structure, frequency and focus would best support your service.

Group supervision can offer a regular space to reflect on clinical work, deepen understanding, develop confidence and receive specialist support with the complex issues and intense countertransference that can arise around eating, body and weight.
