Supporting a Loved One with Disordered Eating or Eating Disorders
Understanding, support and restorative space for you
Supporting someone you care about through disordered eating or an eating disorder can feel complex, worrying and isolating. This small, closed online psychoeducational support group offers a compassionate space to learn, reflect and share alongside others who understand something of the impact.
Facilitated by Mandy Atkinson, an experienced UKCP-registered psychotherapist with specialist experience in this area, the group combines informed psychoeducation with support for group members and discussion. It is run specifically for people close to someone affected by disordered eating or eating disorders and not for the person experiencing the eating difficulty themselves.
Who the group is for
This group is for parents, partners, carers, family members, friends and other close supporters who would value a thoughtful, supportive and informed space in which to better understand what they are facing.
• develop understanding and knowledge of eating distress and the impact of disordered eating and eating disorders;
• reflect on the emotional and relational effects of supporting someone close to you;
• consider ways of responding with care, boundaries and compassion; and
• share with a small group of others in a similarly supportive role.
